Lolita Collage by moonymonster Lolita Collage by moonymonster
This is for anyone out there who has to do what I'm doing: a school project on Lolita fashion. (Which is less fun than it sounds. This stupid thing took three hours.) Anyway, to save you three hours, here's a collage you can use in YOUR powerpoint.

(Well, if you didn't know before, now you know there's more than Sweet Lolita and Gothic Lolita out there. My favorite is Classic. I might wear that someday. It's really nice.)

Not all of it is ^^; The reason I like Classic is because it focuses on elegance, not cuteness. It's got a more sophisticated look ^^ Aristocrat is like that too. And Ero is all about being sexy...though that one's sort of the black sheep of the family, since most of Lolita's obsessed with modesty.

Thank you <3 It took forever. x.X This projeeeect. The only good thing is that I know a hell of a lot more about Lolita XD When I do start buying it I won't do the whole beginner's mistake and buy cosplay stuff. It's a shame cosplay lolita has such a bad rap, though. I was talking with a lolita and we were talking about how you can MAKE a good cosplay lolita as much as a bad one...XD

You're welcome!
Why does it have a bad rap?

Because most of it is made out of the wrong kind of fabric and doesn't fit how the actual fashion is worn. Like...when you see Lolita, you think the hemline's around mid-thigh because you see that at cons and in anime a lot, right? Most hemlines are at the knee, and most of Lolita stuff is made out of cotton, while a lot of costume stuff is made out of satin or shiny fabric. Basically, the knockoff people on Ebay know the cosplayers don't know anything about the fashion and produce sub-par merchandise for them to buy. I agree with the sweet Lolita I interviewed though; if you make your own lolita cosplay, you can still make it out of good materials.

Oh, wow, so the premade cosplays that I see on eBay are made of sub-par material?

Most of them are, some of them aren't. There are off-brands called touhou brands that are produced in China, and they're of good quality but not Japanese brands--but a lot cheaper and usually in larger sizes. It's all about research. But yeah, don't trust Ebay at all when it comes to Lolita. Most of it's costume, and made poorly, so it's a waste of money. It's best to do your research before buying anything so you can recognize what's a good brand and what's a bad brand to buy.

eBay can be hard to trust for almost anything at times. :'D
